The Port of Port Orford is seeking funding for the development of a new Seafood Hub – a multipurpose facility that will support commercial seafood and mariculture facilities, along with an Ocean Innovation Lab. The new facility will be supplied by a new pump ashore seawater system to support expanded live fish and seafood operations, mariculture for edible seaweed and other seafood culture businesses, and cutting edge research and innovation in fisheries, oceanography, and other sectors of the emerging Blue Economy. This project is part of the Oregon Blue Economy Initiative that will address critical Blue workforce training needs, while connecting to innovation and entrepreneurship efforts that will build a resilient Blue Economy on the Oregon Coast, and particularly here in Port Orford.
